A place renowned for its array of alpine lakes, Nelson Lakes National Park is a hikers paradise, with swooping valleys flanked on both sides by ever-looming peaks. It's lakes make it some of the most impressive country I have been fortunate enough to witness and so visiting here was a very memorable experience, walking the 90km Travers Sabine Circuit. Nelson Lakes also has something to be very famous for and that is none other than the clearest freshwater lake, in the world. Blue Lake, providing a horizontal vision of 80metres in comparison to purified waters 83metres, lies deep within the park and would do well to do a minimum of 17 hours of walking just to get to it. Rest assured, it is simply sublime.
